Photographers are inspired by other photographers all the time, one that never ceases to stop amazing me is Amy Wenzel. Not only is she a phenomenal photographer, but the faith and courage she exhibits through her personal struggles are equally impressive. So, upon finding out there is a chance to win a spot at a workshop of hers, I knew I had to enter, just didn't know what I'd say, so I took some time and realized exactly why I wanted to have a spot in her workshop. My story :

I've been in business since 2002 and I didn't realize what I was doing or why it was important until June 4, 2007. A medical helicopter from the University of Michigan crashed into Lake Michigan . On it , a recent client, husband and father of three.

I had no idea that my little portrait session would be the last for their family, or that those images would live on , be included in his memorial, and sit in a frame in his children's rooms, a reminder of their incredible father. Since that day , I've never taken a photo with the same eyes. Photography matters because people matter, and it is my purpose to preserve those relationships so that moment in time does not blend with others. Each moment matters.

It isn't really my story that is the inspiring one, it's it the lives of my clients, and my wish to honor their moments with beautiful photographs. I am not as much of a servant as I hope to be, but I know that people come to me for their silent auctions, or families in need, because like we all learned in preschool, " it's nice to share. " I've been fortunate to do what I love for eight years, and I am so thrilled that opportunities for sharing have been plentiful.

My friend, Matt, amidst his fight against cancer kept a blog . Last spring he was fighting his "what ifs?" and wrote this,

"That morning three weeks ago was a beautiful Spring day, and I watched Ethan giggle as the warm breeze lifted the hair up off of his head. I was so worried about what my future may or may not look like, I was beginning to ignore the beauty of the moment. I was worried about whether I would be around to teach Ethan all of the things a father should teach a son, and then his joy in experiencing his first Spring breeze taught me a lesson. Whether faced with cancer or not, our days on this earth are numbered. In the face of cancer it may seem that the number is smaller than it should be, but we still have no way of knowing how many days are left in our lives. Why not spend them giggling at the wind in your hair, instead of pulling it out worrying about the future?"

Matt's words live in me; I want to live there in the beauty of the moment. As a photographer, I serve my clients by freezing these beautiful moments for them and quite simply, I want to do it better . They deserve that, by hiring me, I owe them. We used images from a mini session with Matt, his wife, and son for his recent memorial service , and my heart broke. I knew, though, I take photographs not because people die, but because they live. Moments where the wind lifts your hair are worth photographing. I believe my camera, heart and eyes are my tools to serve.

My friend posted this as his facebook status , and it hit me.

Life can not be about a set of 'I gets' or 'I deserves' or 'thats mine' but 'How can I serve?', 'How can I love?', 'What can I give?'

I don't deserve this more than anyone else, but if given the opportunity, I truly believe a workshop with Amy Wenzel will teach me the skills I need to take photographs worthy of the incredible lives that are in them.

Due to the passing of a good friend, an amazing husband and father, Kat Foley Photo will have limited hours starting today, Dec. 14. Please hug those you love so tight, be grateful for the hours you are given, and honor those whose have lived their lives with strength, hope and courage like my friend, Dr. Matt Uday. Matt, your passing leaves a gigantic hole in the hearts and lives of your friends, patients, family, and especially in your wife , Megan and son, Ethan. We were all lucky to know you and are heartbroken for all who knew and loved you.

ENJOY THE WIND IN YOUR HAIR.
As I took my walk this morning with Ethan, I was reminded of a similar walk three weeks ago, that helped me put those questions behind me once again. It had not been a full week since I had found out that my tumor marker was rising again, but it had been a rough week. I was faced with not only the how's, why's, and what if's, but also the thought of what now? I was worried about myself and about my family, and what they would do without me. I went for a walk that sunny Sunday morning for about an hour and a half, and I prayed the whole time. Prayer has always been important to me, but I have never prayed that long of a prayer in my life. I asked God the questions that had been troubling me all week, and I told Him what I hoped the answers were. I told Him that I did not feel that I was ready to give up down here, and that I still had a lot to contribute to this world. In the end, my plea was simple, I just want to be. I want to be a husband, a father, and a Christian. Beyond that it is all just icing on the cake. I did not try to make a deal with the Lord, but I told him if he continued to give me the strength to fight this, I would beat it and I would be committed to be a better person than I was before; a better husband, a better father, and a better Christian.

Now I know not all of you reading this may share my belief system, but bear with me here a little longer. I am not going to tell you that a booming voice answered my prayer that morning, or that I returned home to find some unmistakable sign from above. I did, however, feel an answer to my prayer. I felt a sense of relief when I finished my prayer. I felt that I had gotten a lot off of my chest, and that the worry I had begun the day carrying was gone. I can't cite the verse, but I know that scripture suggests we allow God to carry our burdens for us. I never really knew how to do that, but since that prayer I have felt that my burdens are gone. Those disturbing questions may still creep into my thoughts at times, but they don't last and they do not haunt me. I no longer fear what the future holds for me, and I have gained a new appreciation for the present. I can truly say that I am no longer worried about cancer. It may sound crazy, but the worry and the fear disappeared.

Instead I am savoring life; at least as much as one can between appointments and treatment. That morning three weeks ago was a beautiful Spring day, and I watched Ethan giggle as the warm breeze lifted the hair up off of his head. I was so worried about what my future may or may not look like, I was beginning to ignore the beauty of the moment. I was worried about whether I would be around to teach Ethan all of the things a father should teach a son, and then his joy in experiencing his first Spring breeze taught me a lesson. So whether I have 5 days or 5 million days left, why would I spend them worrying and wondering when and how it would come. Instead I am going to enjoy every moment I have, and if I live to be a hundred and two, just imagine the fun I will have in all of those days. I am going to start working on being a better husband, father, and Christian now, rather than waiting until I beat cancer. I am not going to worry nor be afraid, but I am going to focus on being healthy and strong. In the end, I will do everything that I am able to be a better and stronger person. I am going to enjoy life and giggle with Ethan when the wind lifts the hair off his head. It will either be enough to beat cancer or it won't, but either way it will have been worth the ride. Then I will put my faith into God's hands because he has a plan that is far greater than any I can imagine.

It is easy to become consumed with fear and worry, but that is no way to spend your days, no matter how many you have left, nor whether or not you have cancer. My cancer has proven more stubborn than I had expected, but it cannot match my stubbornness. I will fight it every day of my life, but I won't let it run my life. The highlight of my day today was being beaten up by a ten month old! Ethan decided it was time to take on Dad, and he gave it everything he had; he hit me with toy cars, plastic rings, pacifiers, and smacked me with his bare hands. The whole time he shrieked with glee as he won his first wrestling match. When he wakes up from his nap, he will get his first lesson of revenge in the form of some serious tickling. To me, that is a much better way to spend the day than worrying about tomorrow.

A letter from my amazingly brave and inspiring niece, Sara ...

Dear Family and Friends,

On April 13, 2009, my life changed drastically. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, which means I will be insulin dependent for the rest of my life. Insulin keeps me alive, but it is not a cure. I have to take at least 4 shots a day and test my blood sometimes 6 times a day. In just 3 months, I have had more than 360 shots and pricked my fingers over 550 times. I am the first person in my family to be diagnosed with this lifelong disease.

A cure for Diabetes is in reach with continued funding for research. My Team goal is to raise $5,000. This is how you can help!

"I am doing everything that I can to fight the cancer within my body, but it is time to extend the fight. On the weekend of August 28-30 I will be involved with the Pelotonia, a bike tour for cancer. The event will be held in Columbus, Ohio, and 100% of the money raised will go towards cancer research at the James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State University. You may recall that this is where I received my second opinion. Lance Armstrong and his Livestrong foundation are supporting the event, and Lance will be participating in the ride as well as speaking at the opening ceremony. Each rider is responsible for raising $1000 towards the cause. My family has put together a Peloton (or team) in honor of me, and my parents, sister, and brother-in-law will be riding in the 50 mile tour. Megan and I will be volunteering.

This will be an amazing event, and an incredible opportunity to raise money for cancer research. Many of you have asked how you can help, and some of you have asked if there is a charity that you could donate to in my name. Well, here is your chance. 100% of your donation will go to cancer research.

This little cutie's mom and I go way back.. and I mean way back.. we were born 20 days apart and lived two doors down. We spent most days playing in the yard, catching crayfish, or being harassed by our older brothers. ( Mom is the youngest of seven kids, I am the youngest of five.) My job is rewarding, incredibly rewarding, but very few things compare to seeing your friends become great parents. This little guy has a giant family who loves him, and even a cousin that was born three weeks after him, and if he is as lucky as we have been, he'll grow up to love and appreciate the big family that is already amazed by him. Welcome to the world, sweet baby c.

This little girl, J, and I had a great time. I brought over balloons, and got big smiles from her at the time. Her mom and I tried to get her to hold the balloons for some photos.. but she wanted no part of them by that point. I think of myself as a kid follower, you have to let kids be kids during photo shoots. J, was all about watering the plants, adorable in the cute way she 'd ask for more water. The poor plant! I hope it made it after all the watering.

Nothing beats the little Miss America wave and accompanying smile she did when she walked out the door and waved to her aunt driving up to the house. We had so much fun , running around, watering flowers and exploring the yard. I also want to thank J's mom, without her, I wouldn't have gotten half of the smiles I did. Also, I can't wait to meet J's little brother or sister in August!

Megan and I went to college together at Saint Mary's, when she met her husband, we couldn't stop talking about what a nice guy he was. Now we all know not only how nice he is, but what an amazing person he is. Cancer has entered their life and they have faced this struggle with bravery and faith like I have never known. I read their family blog and am floored by the wisdom, wit and faith that comes across the screen.

Matt is a huge Michigan fan ( that is an understatement.. he proposed to Megan on the field ) so we went back to capture some family photos there. Construction kept us from the field, but we took as many as we could around the stadium. I love this family with my whole being, I wish I could wave a magic wand and fast forward to a time when everyone is healthy and their days could revolve more around swimming lessons then chemo. I hope that should I ever be faced with a struggle like this, I can exhibit one once of the grace and faith I have seen in this amazing family. I am lucky call you friends. Love and Prayers!

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of photographing Alisha and Aaron's wedding day. The rain held off enough for us to get a few outdoors. The wedding was held at the always breathtaking St. John's Chapel in Plymouth, MI. The whole place is humbling, the shiny floors , the way the light dances around the whole building, it was the perfect reflection of the love between two wonderful souls, Alisha and Aaron.

Aaron was having the time of his life.. :)

I had a hard time leaving because the celebration was just too much fun! I've never seen little kids dance so long! The gorgeous flowers were from Maureen's Designs in Saline. Maureen is a floral artist.. and every arrangement is impeccable.

Seniors - Travis and Matt

Friday , I had the pleasure of meeting two senior guys for photo shoots, one in the morning and one in evening. First up, Travis. I made Travis climb some rocks, scale small hills, and sit in flower beds... but that is nothing, Travis hopes to become a Navy Seal one day, so my little photo shoot was no match for him. Thank you Travis and Matt for making my "senior friday" so fun. Best of luck to you both as you graduate here in a few weeks!

Matt, his sister and mom trounced around town on Friday. I had his sister, Emily , who is also on my tennis team provide the entertainment to get to him smiling. She also was a gopher girl, grabbing lenses and whatever I needed.

We beat the ominous looking weather and got some great shots, here is a sneak peak. Congratulations, Matt!

As many of you know , this week my family was thrown a curveball with my niece's sudden diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. We've never had diabetes in the family, so we are all learning new things this week. My nieces and nephew are an integral part of my life, and I have enjoyed moving back to Michigan and having the chance see them every day, and watch them grow up.

Sara, faced the diagnosis with courage and bravery , unlike anything I could have done. I am so proud of her, I can't even find the words to accurately describe the grace of this brave 11year old. I snapped a few pics when she was in the hospital, reading a book about Rufus, the diabetic bear. She also saw his medical bracelet, and is anxious to personalize her own. Her outlook , and maturity beyond her years is an inspiration .

As a family we realize how grateful we are that it is a treatable disease, many at Mott's Hospital were not so fortunate. If nothing else, take this blog post has a little reminder to keep others in your prayers, and be grateful for all that you 've been given. I'd like to thank all of the wonderful people who have offered tips, advice, suggestions, meal plans... we are a truly blessed family. Thank you all so much!

And Sara, Ryan and Megan... I am very proud to be your aunt. :) Love you.

I'll admit, I have a big weakness for little ones who begin in the Intensive Care Unit. 31 years ago, I was there , all 3lbs of me.

So when I got the call to photograph these two, I was honored to get the chance to document their small beginnings. These twins, B and G, have incredible parents who are no strangers to hospital stays . John, a Marine, was severely injured in Iraq, and his wife , Lisa have a love story that began when they met in the first day of the Police Academy . They've been through the wringer already, and now have two little boys who are lucky to have such dynamic parents.

But now... the big introduction of these tiny little guys...
we were limited by all the cords and monitors , but just watching John and Lisa maneuver them , they seemed like old pros. We were able to put them together in a crib and the two boys nuzzled into one another . It was almost as if you could see them snuggle into one another as if to say, "Hey, I remember you! "
There are days when I don't think my heart can hold all the love and amazement I feel when I see newborns, and that morning in the NICU... the love in the room from everyone was palpable. Their tiny hands and feet are no measure for the big , wonderful life that awaits these two. Thank you John and Lisa , for your service to this country, your commitment to each other, letting me document the love between you and your sons. It was truly an honor. I can't wait to photograph them again next week at home! :)

My little nieces are in a play in Saline. Watching these kids this wonderful little production reminded me of how fortunate I was to have the Arts in my school when I was growing up. Programs like these fight to hold on to their funds, but what they do for the for the confidence and self esteem of these young kids is immeasureable . Remember the arts when it comes voting time. The show was held at Liberty School ( the old Middle School to us old townies) and there is a show now through Sunday. Go see it, it's adoreable and you'll be singing the cute song " hola Lola! " the rest of the day.

I have had the pleasure of photographing D's family for a few years now. I've seen his sisters grow and change and now, there is a little brother for them to love. D . was absolutely a dream .. we moved him from room to room, changed his blankets, even stuck him in a bookshelf ( my favorite image.. of course , I am partial because how can you beat a cute baby and a cool antique camera in one image? ) .

My favorite image of the ski trip.. my brother and niece. Megan later told me " Don't you think it's better if you sit in the middle , so you aren't all crooked?" I told her I agreed.

I will be posting pics from my photography conference in Vegas where I met incredible photographers, heard some of them speak , and I walked away inspired and ready to overhaul my business in the upcoming year. But after my conference, I went on the annual ski trip with my brother and his family. I love this trip every year, I get quality time with each of my nieces and nephew and their very good friends , Nate and Maria. This year, I had more quality time with my youngest niece, Megan because she insisted on going up every ski lift with me. ( So stinkin cute... )

This is the whole gang, Maria, Sara, Ryan, Nate and Megan. We try to do this pic every year.. but we don't always succeed.

I tried to get a cute photo of the boys, but all I could do get them to wrestle with one another.. worth a try!

This is my brother , Tom. He grows a beard in honor of Paddy's day. It used to be red, and he really looked like the Notre Dame mascot.. but years go by and now, he is aiming for the Orange County Choppers look.

I love the time I got these past two weeks, one week with my incredible wedding photographer peers, and one with my family . I am so grateful! To my clients who were so patient with the out of town messages.. I am back and checking off emails right now. :) Can't wait to talk to you about your big day.

169.00 and my computer is back in action

What would I rather do with my 169.00? A new camera bag, new clothes, lots of kickboxing classes, a new rug for my office... or donate it to a good cause. Instead, I paid for it to battle a computer virus. The good news is, my computer peeps let me know that they were able to fix and reload all my info.

My computer is back, not up and running but at least sitting comfortably in my office.
That means, wedding editing and portrait sessions are on the menu for tomorrow and Wednesday! So much work to do!

This was the first time I had the pleasure of meeting "A" and her little brother, "G". Their mom , Martha have known each other for years ( maybe a more than a decade, but saying that makes me feel old. ) . Martha and her husband live in LA, but while the kids were still in my neck of the woods, I wanted to meet and photograph them.

We had a great time, played dress up, climbed on chairs, played the piano, harassed the dog a bit, enjoyed the deep snow . Since my main computer is battling a virus, I don't have access to photoshop so this aren't touched up at all.. but their cute faces still speak volumes.

My dad's birthday is always one that gets the "two-fer" because it so close to Christmas . I wanted to make sure he got his two gifts this year.
On top of his gift is a mini car.. almost identical to the car we used to have we aptly named, " the OOOGA" because of the sound of the horn. Underneath the "oooga " is a kit kat bar, which he loves. ( He always used to snatch them from my Halloween bag. )

I am doing all I can to wrap up anything I can before Thanksgiving. Anything you don't hear from me on by Tuesday morning.. then it will be the following week that I'll get back to you. My dog, Canon began the week by digging out the remains of a whole chicken and left me two very clean plastic containers, no signs of the chicken...

I will only be available on Monday ( that is right , I will have Monday hours ) and Tuesday. I do have some photo shoots and a very important date with my niece who is celebrating her 11th birthday! ( I have a tradition of picking up my nieces and nephews on their birthday and spending quality time with them. )

I am also having a little ( emphasis on little ) surgery so I will not be working again until the following week.

Most of all------------- HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY. Hug them tight, listen to their stories ( again) , and be thankful!

Meet baby A. His mom, Sarah, and I were college roommates and she and her husband have been anxiously waiting for the day they could meet this little guy and welcome him home forever. This weekend , one short flight away, I was able to meet him , too. My friend and I couldn't help but continue to be amazed at this little person, and in awe of God's blessings in our lives. How can you look in that sweet face and not be amazed?

My friend and I have experienced all that life has to offer over the years ..

a Guinness ( or several ) while we lived in Ireland together
a car mishap ( I drove into a construction site in the pouring rain.. not my finest moment )
the heartbreak of loss
a few too many Lifetime movies
ridiculous weight gain ( those silly Europeans with their incredible chocolate and fine tasting beers)
innumerable hugs and belly busting laughs
and the incredible journeys of love and marriage

But nothing thus far has compared to seeing my friends become parents. I love you guys, and I am excited to watch your little man grow and learn , and I feel blessed to be a part of his life and yours!

Not only are my friends great parents, this is their pup who is becoming a Leader Dog through The Seeing Eye. The first puppy they raised is already hard at work as a a Leader Dog. He was dressed up and ready to be a part of the Halloween Parade.

Anyone who knows me, knows what a big proponent of adoption I am , and will always be..

Colleen's family and my family are close friends and it is always wonderful to see her or her family. I can vividly remember her eyes welling up when her mom and dad would leave and I was babysitting. I'd sit with her for a half hour so begging her to stop crying and assuring her that they'd be back. Then for the rest of the night , she'd be the happiest baby and I still can' t believe " collbugs" is all grown up and graduating this year. She has turned out to be exactly what I thought she'd be, a thoughtful, intelligent, fun and beautiful adult!

I loved this wedding! Corrine and Aaron were so great. The wedding was held at the Grosse Pointe Academy chapel , followed by a little bowling and a reception at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. Even though it was a little brisk , the rain held off and we took some photos by the water.

Meet "J-P". His mom and I go way back to 1996- where we both spent many hours in the Art building of Saint Mary's College. She found out that I was living in Ann Arbor, and she tracked me down and boy, I am glad. Not only do I get to reconnect with a friend, but look at her cute son! Do little boys get any cuter than this little guy?

The leaves proved to be a formidable distraction..but a nice curious moment.

This is "G. " I met her as a baby and now she is a 100 percent bona fide, pink wearing, dolly carrying little girl. She and her parents were such a delight. It took a while for her to come out of her shell ( as you might see in the photos... ) but she broke out of her shell by creating drawings in the sand, jumping off a stump , rolling down the hill, and playing a flute ( it was a stick, but she was convincing with her skills, so now I am convinced it was a flute, too! )

Amanda and I had so much fun trekking up to Spartyville ( aka E. Lansing) for a great Sparty wedding . As anyone knows who has been on campus, it is so gorgeous everywhere you looK!
Even the butter at the reception had little Sparty's on it, but butter is incredible reflective and hard to photograph ( who knew?)

Undoubtedly, you have seen the car before. You pull up to a stoplight , to only look up and see the baby foot on the back of the car. It is usually at that point that you honk or wave to me, for which I am grateful . If I look baffled , it is only because you don' t have your name on the side of your car, so it takes me a moment to realize I didn't cut someone off, to recognize you and wave back.

The car is getting a facelift, with your help! I will be posting 8-10 pictures that will be in contention to be the new face ( or faces ) of Kat Foley Photo. But, right now, I am taking suggestions. The baby foot will still be on the back , because it is easily recognizable and on most of my promotional materials.

Maybe it was an image from your photo shoot, or one you saw at your friend's house, or from the website. What images do you want to see on the PhotoBox? Keep in mind, I am mainly a baby and child photographer , and do select weddings. So most of the images on the car, I'd like to be of babies and children, but I am open to suggestions!

Meet Ethan!
Three days old.
Ethan's mom and I went to college together at Saint Mary's , so we can't help but be Notre Dame fans, and Ethan's dad is quite possibly one of the biggest Michigan fans I have ever met, so we comprised with these photos. I have to admit, that Ethan shuddered a little bit when I put the Notre Dame "Play Like A Champion Today" magnet near him, so maybe he'll follow in dad's footsteps. ( Or maybe he was just cold.. )

This little guy was so sweet and I was absolutely thrilled just to meet him. We took photographs of five generations altogether! He did a great job, and he is certainly lucky to have such great parents and a wonderful family who is welcoming him to the world with open arms.

Old Mission and Torch Lake

Hi everyone!

I went to Northern Michigan to see my good friends , Ann Detar Green in Torch Lake ( no Madonna or Michael Moore spottings to report) and the Patton family in Old Mission.

I was so impressed by the community feeling in Old Mission. I met the Patton family when I was living in San Diego, and we'd share our Michigan connection. The Pattons love their place in Old Mission and I was so impressed by the entire community and I was glad I finally made it up there.

It was like a Norman Rockwell painting. Quinnessential summer, kids playing in the water, riding bikes and even neighborhood baseball games . I was just as impressed with the history, many of the cottages where passed on from one family member to the next, each generation bringing their children up for a taste of what they remember their childhood to be. It I remember one parent saying to another, " Can you believe that we are the parents now?"

The rain held off for the most part, a few sprinkles during and after the ceremony, but we battled muddy shoes and had a great time! Karen and Cory were married under a tent at Cobblestone Farm in Ann Arbor right next to the barn. I guess the ducks really wanted to be invited into the tent, because they squawked and squawked during the ceremony. I am sure they were giving their blessing!

The flowers were simply stunning and as inspiring as the music.

Jessica introduced me to Hanson, as in the MMM Bop band... we rocked out to that album in 1996 in my white Olds with blue velour interior as we drove around South Bend. I was a freshman in college, she was a freshman in high school. As I stood photographing her wedding day, I teared up as I was trying to document it . I couldn't believe this beautiful woman was the same teenager I met way back then. I love her, her family, and I am so happy for her and Drew. ( I am also glad she met her man in Ann Arbor, that means she'll have to come back for visits. )

Mr. Siefert, my father's best friend and life long friend of the family, lost his battle this week. Hi all,
1. the website is still pretty minimal, and pretty sad at this point. as many of you heard, the company that made the website lost the entire contents and no longer offers the same one-- therefore kat foley photo gets a whole new look! thanks for your patience!

2. i have a main computer that does all my edits and sizing ( for everything, including the new website) and then I have a tiny little laptop i bring to weddings that isn't capable of handling the photo side of things as well. the main computer died over the weekend thus putting everything behind schedule. I back up all my photos and I know I didn't lose any photo shoots,( crossing my fingers) . i had just backed up most things.

i want to thank my fabulous clients for their patience! much much much appreciated!

They no longer have the same website, so kat foley photo will be getting a new look. ( Besides, you were getting tired of the old site, right? ) Hope you like it.

Really, don't you think this little cutie could easily be the next gerber baby? We had a lot of fun, and little Mallory was patient and attentive. She was a delight to photograph, and in fact, it was hard for me to put away my camera because she was just as cute when she was sleeping!

Every year my Irish family goes downtown A2 for a little run to raise money for Mott Children's Hospital . The race is run by Conor O'Neills Irish Pub and the Murray family who benefited from the care given at Mott when their daughter was ill. Sadly, their daughter did not make it to run in these races, but her parents giving spirit and this annual event for many raises money for a very good cause.

Granted, every year, I find a way not to run ,but to take pictures of my other family members running. So here are some from the day.

My nephew stepped up to race in the adult race, and beat every kid his age and few older ( and his mom! ) .

Nanny Goat's Gruff. Megan starred as "Big Bertha Lee." She was the goat that knocked the troll off the bridge. We had snow days on the previous two show dates, so we were happy when the show finally went on.

Hi clients and friends,

In the spirit of new beginnings, I decided my first post would be a pair of newborns. I was hesitant about blogging , but I think it is a great way to share some of my latest work with my clients and friends.

This photoshoot reminded me of two main things...

1. I am so lucky to get to do what I love, thank you all for choosing me to be your family photographer. It is truly an honor to share in your moments big and small.

2. Patience pays off. Letting babies just be their sleepy selves can create the best photographs. I was fortunate these twins have a great mom willing to do whatever was necessary to make sure we ended up with incredible photographs. She had a great neighbor, too, who was there to help settle one down while we photographed the other!

This photograph was one of the last of the day, when they were completely tuckered out, a sweet moment I was glad to capture. Enjoy the photographs of this adoreable pair.
