A letter from my amazingly brave and inspiring niece, Sara ...
Dear Family and Friends,
On April 13, 2009, my life changed drastically. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, which means I will be insulin dependent for the rest of my life. Insulin keeps me alive, but it is not a cure. I have to take at least 4 shots a day and test my blood sometimes 6 times a day. In just 3 months, I have had more than 360 shots and pricked my fingers over 550 times. I am the first person in my family to be diagnosed with this lifelong disease.
A cure for Diabetes is in reach with continued funding for research. My Team goal is to raise $5,000. This is how you can help!
1. Join “Sara’s Soldiers” in a Walk to Cure Diabetes Team on October 4, 2009 at Hudson Mills Metro Park in Dexter, MI. Register at www.jdrf.org and join us for a fun day at the Walk!!
2. Make a cash donation in support of Sara’s Soldiers. Cash or checks, made out to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) mailed to my address or make an online donation by visiting www.jdrf.org. Any amount is welcome!
3. Become a Fan of JDRF on Facebook and add some JDRF flair. For every 100 people that join $10 will be donated to JDRF.
Thank you for considering supporting JDRF by joining my Team-Sara’s Soldiers! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call or email my aunt at Katfoleyphoto@yahoo.com
